Érik Desmazières, master printmaker

(Photo: Alain Roberge, La Presse)

Érik Desmazières is one of my favorite contemporary printmakers, specializing in etching.  He's best known for fantastical and intricate works, but his range is enormous.

Le Magasin de Robert Capia, 2008.  Etching, aquatint, roulette.  Edition of 90.

One of my favorite prints by Desmazières.  I do love detail art.

A nice book survey in English/French is still available, Érik Desmazières: Imaginary Places (5 Continents Editions, 2008).

If possible, try to find and get this edition of Jorge Luis Borges' story 'The Library of Babel' illustrated by Desmazières (David R. Godine, 2000).
